how do i stop my cheaply made necklace from turning my neck black?

Ok so I bought this necklace off ebay. Its a twilight prop replica necklace and I paid a lot for it. However its cheaply made because something rubs off and makes my neck black. I still really like it and want to wear it but I'm sick of it turning my skin black!!!

Is there anything I can do to it to stop this from happening???

Paint the back of it with clear nail polish! Seriously this will work wonders.
